Strong and supple is the motto for this class devoted to developing full-body strength and stability. We begin with a thorough warm-up, continue with sets for toning the upper body using hand held weights, alternating with dance moves for cardio conditioning. We do mat work targeting core, abs, and legs, and end with a luscious, lengthening stretch.
We begin with a full-body scan and gentle movements to bring awareness to our physical structure and a sense of connectivity throughout the skeleton.
We continue with strengthening exercises for core muscles, abdominals, pelvic floor, legs, and back. Working through a range of stretches for increasing our flexibility, we come onto our feet feeling lighter and more ideally aligned.
Kim's signature class is a soul-inspiring, kick-ass, cardio-dance workout that will make you sweat, raise your heart rate, and your spirits!
The class consists of a mindful warm-up, easy-to-follow choreography danced to an eclectic soundtrack, (Salsa, Afrobeats, Punk, Hip Hop, Jazz, etc.,) and a cool down/stretch to leave you feeling energized for the rest of your weekend.
Kim will spend 4 weeks choreographing a new work on the enrolled students. The dance style will be rooted in American jazz, Broadway, and contemporary movement.
Be part of the Kim Blank experience. 4 Saturdays at 1 PM from February 10th to Mar 2nd. $100. No make up class available due to the special nature of this 1 time event.
Class begins with a warm-up and progressions across the floor to practice vocabulary used in the choreography.
In this class we take a pause from typical exercise, in order to feel ourselves from the inside. We aim to develop our sense of proprioception, and in that way gain a better sense of where we are in space, and how we move. Moshe Feldenkrais said that you can do what you want when you know what you do. This knowing what we do and how we do it, is key to improving the quality of our movement, our mobility, and our stability. Specifically guided movement explorations lead us to release habitually held tension in our muscles, and to discover more comfort, range of motion, and grace.
