Strong and supple is the motto for this class focused on full-body strength, alignment and flexibility. We begin with a thorough warm-up, continue with light weights for toning the upper body, and moves for cardio conditioning. We do mat work targeting core, abs, and legs, and end with a feel-great lengthening stretch.
We begin with a full-body scan and gentle movements to bring awareness to our physical structure and a sense of connectivity throughout the skeleton.
We continue with strengthening exercises for core muscles, abdominals, pelvic floor, legs, and back. Working through a range of stretches for increasing our flexibility, we come onto our feet feeling lighter and more ideally aligned.
Kim's signature class is a soul-inspiring, kick-ass, cardio-dance workout that will make you sweat, raise your heart rate, and your spirits!
We have a mindful warm-up, easy-to-follow choreography danced to an eclectic soundtrack, (Salsa, Afrobeats, Punk, Hip Hop, Jazz, etc.,) and a cool down/stretch to leave you feeling energized for the rest of your weekend.
Beginning-Intermediate Level - Warm-up, including mat work and center floor pliés, followed by progressions across the floor, and choreography. Kim uses eclectic music and dance vocabulary including, classic jazz, pop, Latin, etc. Classes may be booked in a series for the calendar month or you may drop in.
In this class we take a pause from typical exercise, in order to feel ourselves from the inside. We aim to develop our sense of proprioception, and in that way gain a better sense of where we are in space, and how we move. Specifically guided movement explorations lead us to release habitually held tension in our muscles, and to discover more comfort, range of motion, and grace.
